We recommend Take Akashi 0.25 mm (10 kg) as a leader for the Orbit 8g for light UL presentations. For the Orbit 13g and 18g, we recommend 0.30 mm (13 kg), which provides the right balance of strength and invisibility for all-round coastal sea trout fishing.

Take Akashi is a 100% premium fluorocarbon line. Unlike standard monofilament (nylon), it has a light refractive index very close to water, making it nearly invisible underwater. It is also denser, meaning it sinks faster and stays in the strike zone longer.

It is most effective in clear water, sunny conditions, and heavily fished waters where fish are cautious and leader-shy. It is also highly recommended when fishing near structure such as rocks, weeds, or mussel beds where abrasion resistance is critical.

While technically possible, fluorocarbon is stiffer than nylon or braided lines. We recommend using it as a leader material (typically 30–40 cm) tied to your braided main line. This maximizes casting distance while keeping your presentation invisible and your Orbit lure fishing at its best.
